About the Recipe: Moong Dal Halwa is an Indian dessert which is very rich and super delicious. This dessert is generally prepared at weddings for guests and people love to have it, specially in winters. So, go ahead and give it a chance to please your taste buds 😋😋
- Moong Dal: 250 gm (soak in water for 3-4 hrs and grind to a little coarse paste)
- Raisins: 2 tbsps
- Sliced Almonds,Cashews: 15-20 each
- Saffron: 1 pinch
- Green Cardamom Powder: 1tsp
- Clarified Butter: 1 Cup
- Milk: 500 ml
- Sugar: 200-250 gm
Step 1: Heat 1 tsp clarified butter in a pan and fry dry fruits lightly. Fry raisins separate until they are swollen.Keep them aside to use later.
Step 2: Heat 1 Cup clarified butter in a wok and add lentil paste. Stir fry continuously at low flame. First it will absorb all clarified butter and curdle up, it will be little difficult to keep stirring but don’t stop and keep frying stirring well. It will start becoming easy and will leave the clarified butter from sides of the wok.
Step 3: Boil milk in a separate vessel and add saffron. When milk gets its first boil add sugar and mix well, boil once again and turn off the flame. Keep it aside for next step.
Step 4: When clarified butter starts coming up leaving the lentil paste that’s the time when lentil is cooked nicely, now add green cardamom powder and half of fried dry fruits. Mix well and cook for further 5 minutes.
Step 5: Add Milk slowly and keep stirring to avoid lumps, cover and cook until milk is absorbed ~5-6 minutes.
Step 6: Uncover and cook at high flame until pudding comes to your desired consistency. Keep stirring continuously
Step 7: Garnish with the remaining fried dry fruits and serve hot. 😊
